Dodger Stadium, or also known as Chavez Ravine or “pitcher’s ballpark”, is the only stadium in the whole National League with a symmetrical outfield. The stadium is a baseball park located in the Elysian Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.

As its name tells, this stadium is the home field of the Los Angeles Dodgers team, the city’s National League franchise of Major League Baseball (MLB). The Dodger Stadium was opened on April 10, 1962, making it the third-oldest ballpark in MLB, after Fenway Park in Boston (1912) and Wrigley Field in Chicago (1914). It was constructed in less than three years and was sponsored by private sources for its total $23 million construction cost. Currently, it is the world’s largest baseball stadium based on its seat capacity.

For its other name, Chavez Ravine, it was used by Los Angels from 1962 to 1965 to avoid constantly referring to their landlords. This was when Dodgers Stadium was the home for the Angels. Chavez Ravine refers to the geographic feature in which the stadium sits.

Known to most true fans of MLB, Dodger Stadium hosted the Major League Baseball All-Star Game in 1980. Additionally, we are glad to inform you the stadium will be hosting the MLB game again in 2020. Other than MLB games, Dodger Stadium has hosted 10 World Series and both the semifinals and finals of the 2009 and 2017 World Baseball Classics. Little known to most, it has also hosted the exhibition baseball during the 1984 Summer Olympics. This definitely shows that Dodger Stadium is indeed the best if not one of the best baseball parks in the world for true fans.

Other than hosting baseball games, Dodger Stadium has also hosted a soccer tournament in 2013, hockey in 2014, boxing in 1963, and cricket in 2015. The stadium also hosted the opening ceremony of the 1991 U.S. Olympic Festival. Fans of the venue should be rejoiced to know that Dodger Stadium will be hosting Baseball and Softball during the 2028 Summer Olympics.

If you think that a baseball stadium like Dodgers can only be used for sporting events then you cannot be more wrong. In fact, many of the world’s top rock, pop and electronic bands have performed at Dodger Stadium. These world-class stars include acts KISS, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Bee Gees, Elton John, David Bowie, Madonna, Beyonce, Eric Clapton, U2, and the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

Both the Dodgers Baseball team and Dodgers Stadium are owned by Guggenheim Partners that was founded in 1999. The current CEO of Guggenheim Walter is Mark Walter. The company is a global investment and advisory firm. The headquarters of the firm is located in both New York City and Chicago.

The stadium itself was first renovated in 2012. Some of the notable renovations made in 2012 were new HD hexagonal video and scoreboards, a new sound system, and wider concourses. Additional standing room viewing areas, improved restrooms, and a children’s playground were added too. Later in between 2013 and 2014, more renovations were put in place which included team store, and more food and beverage outlets.
